At the tail end of last year I took the train to Marseille to visit my Man-child. There are no words for me to describe Marseille to you; it has to be savoured, absorbed and processed at your own speed otherwise the energy and thrum of this beautiful, sleazy city will exhaust you. Perhaps I can just tell you it is nothing like Paris and leave it at that.
