lately

Moving around, picking things up and putting them down. A feeling of restlessness that needs to quiet down. Last week I went and bought myself a large A4 hardback sketchbook. I've become so used to the comfort and familiarity of a moleskine cahier, but I needed a challenge and a breaking of old habits. This new book seems somehow significant and important. I made a deal with myself to start a daily art practice. The baby steps and not the big picture. About doing instead of talking. Mapping unchartered waters as I row my little boat. No rules, no plan, just a commitment to do something everyday and document it. Wherever I go, my new book must come too.

"Ah yes", you might say, "but how are you going to stick with it, given that you are always stopping and starting projects?"
I thought of that. By making myself accountable, that's how. Everyday I have to DO in my book. And everyday share them on my tumblr. Doodles, a photograph, notes or drawings…hell, I don't know yet. It will unfold before me and dictate it's own path...

You can see my daily progress here, if you wish.

P.S. I was recently given The Artist's Way by a friend. Have you read it/done it and if so, how was it for you?
