take a train (or what we saw from the cheap seats)

Usually when we go to Toulouse I drive, but during the Contemporary Art Weekend event the heat was blistering so we took the train…

As a car driver you miss so much, especially when you are driving the autoroute. The train opens up so much more of the journey and the opportunity to do a massive amount of people watching, one of my preferred pastimes. Admittedly hard to be discreet with a clunky old camera (and I'm falling in love with this one) but surely that's part of the fun?

  1. this is precisely why I never drive to London!
always the train, much more relaxed and in synthesis with other humans:

    1. sadly, with 3 train tickets costing 66 euros and the fuel for the same journey costing less than half of that train travel will always be a luxury :(

  2. So true! I absolutely know what you mean!

For our France holidays we traveled by train from Berlin to Aix-en-Provence - there's so much to see through the windows, relaxing, dreaming.... And the TGV in France has so comfy seats! Could sit days in that train...

Tomorrow means back to Berlin and although I would love to stay here in France I'm looking very much forward to the 10 hours on the train. :)
    Sounds crazy?

  4. I took last year the TGV from Paris to Tours - a fantastic train. And as stress-free.

I like the dog in the compartment. :)

  5. that is definitely part of the fun, and i have put down my film cameras for some time now- not sure why, going through some sort of transition in my life that is hard for me to explain. silent inside, i guess.
